About HDB

Our staff

Inspired by the events of September 11, 2001, Cynthia and Steve Stafford wanted to be of service to others. They envisioned an organization that would honor Cynthia’s brother, Marine LT Dennis Babers, who gave his life while saving the lives of his Marine brothers at Viet Nam’s Cam Lo Bridge in September 1967. (To read more about LT Dennis Babers, click here.)

They founded The HDB Service Group, Inc., a 501c3 charity, in April 2002 and dedicated it to service and commitment for the benefit of others. HDB is their ministry and has become noted for its innovation and capacity for starting from the ground up endeavors that assist people to gain optimum health and well-being.

The HDB staff members are dedicated individuals who share our heart for service to others. We are fortunate to have dedicated individuals who believe in our mission.

LOCAL Transit

Our bus drivers receive pre-service and in-service training in CPR/First Aid, communication with riders, safe wheelchair lift operation, emergency or inclement weather procedures. Each driver values the relationships they have with riders. Our drivers work as a team so that LOCAL stays on the road at all times, in all types of weather.

David and his wife, Donna, are also the pastors at Rivers of Life Church in LaGrange.

Nick has been with HDB since March 2007 and enjoys helping his riders with anything from mowing a lawn to power washing the access ramp at their home to make them safer. Nick is retired from Corhart Refratories and lives with his wife, Cheryl, their son, Tim, in Smithfield. Tim is a LOCAL Transit Ambassador who assists passengers when needed.
