The Community Care Clinic

Back to services.

The Community Care Clinic aims to improve access to health care for the uninsured.
Our focus is on assisting people who have no other means to obtain healthcare for treatment of chronic, controllable conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Patients living anywhere are welcome at the Clinic. We have patients from Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll and Jefferson Counties.

Community Care Clinic patients are adults who are unable to get health care because they do not have insurance. They do not have to be residents of Oldham County and we treat people from adjacent counties as well as Carroll and Franklin Counties. Patients may never have had insurance or have lost their insurance due to job loss. Our patients do not receive any kind of public assistance through Medicare, Medicaid or disability benefits. They are those who would use emergency room services were it not for our clinic. Most of our patients have worked hard during their lives, but due to various circumstances will not be able to have jobs that provide health benefits. They rely on The Community Care Clinic to help them maintain an optimum level of health so they can continue to work or seek employment. Many consider The Community Care Clinic their medical home.

Clinic activities

The Clinic is a typical medical office that serves people without health insurance. Volunteer nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians treat adult patients for acute and chronic conditions. These conditions include simple illnesses, diabetes and high blood pressure.

The Clinic was chosen as the demonstration site for eMed Consulting Group’s electronic medical records project. Dave Vrona and Andy Nieto used donated computers to install workstations in each of the Clinic’s four examination rooms and in the Clinic office.
